
Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, a Non-Governmental Organizations and Partnered with ChildFund The Gambia, on Thursday 18 December, 2025 made a presentation of D816,300.00 worth of assorted teaching and learning materials to 15 Early Childhood Education Centers within its operational area. The ceremony was held at the Federation’s head office in Jambanjelly Village, Kombo South District,West Coast Region of The Gambia.
The presented materials which included 30 cartons of white chalks, 15 cartons of colored chalks, 75 packets of assorted vanguard paper, 60 pieces of large mats. 30 pieces of branded plastic wheel drive dustbins, 465 packets of assorted crayons, 150 pieces of pencil sharpeners, 195 pieces of blackboard rulers, 165 bottles of paper glue, 5,400 pieces of 80 pages exercise books, 300 pieces of pencil erasers, 465 packets of permanent markers, 315 packets of colored pencils and 330 packets of HB pencils. It is envisage that these materials Wil go along way in easing tea teaching and learning among beneficiary schools and in addition impact on the education outcome of 3,483 Nursery school children within Kombo South and North Districts.
In his statement, Mr. Alieu Mendy, Manager of Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation (DDYF) reiterated his Federation’s commitment in supporting the educational needs of early childhood education centers,emphasizing that as the main objective of the presentation is to foster and promote the educational philosophy of “Catch Them Young”, as to enhance strong partnerships with the government, communities, schools management Committees and including the creation of conducive and informative classroom learning environment for children and toddlers.
In her keynote address, Ms. Adam Jallow, NGO representative for West Coast Region, thanked Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation for its unflinching and remarkable support towards complementing the educational needs of early childhood education.
Honourable Ousman Bojang, Governor of West Coast Region, also in a statement reminded the gathering of the importance of education, stating that as the presented materials will no doubt complement government’s efforts in providing affordable and accessible education to all. He called on the school heads to make the best use of the donated materials.
Representative from the TANGO umbrella body Mr. Alhagie Cham, reminded the audience of Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation’s attainment of membership status due to its performance in implementing life changing programs and activities within their catchment areas. He then assured of TANGO’s support to the Federation anytime needed.
In the same vein, the representatives of Regional Education Directorate of Region 2, Mr. Ebrima Darboe, reiterated similar sentiment, while stressing the importance of early childhood education as a foundation in shaping responsible future leaders.
In her vote of thanks, the President of Early Childhood Education Centers,Mrs. Hawa Sanneh, thanked Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation for its continuous assistance on early childhood education, noting that as will help ease the financial burden on ECD schools.
